Free software is always good. If you need something to help with your production we have your back.

Free software tools for music production

Introduction

So, for my posting today,  I want to talk to you about free tools you have at your disposal for music production.I  only wanted to bring up serious software that you can use for professional production.  I mean I love GarageBand, but I probably would want to use something else with a bigger track count So here are some of my favourite software for music production.

Free software 1 -  DAW’s

Waveform

So for my top pick I would recommend Waveform Free. Unlike other DAW software out there, Waveform Free has no restrictions. You don’t have to worry about track restriction, timeouts or pop ups. It also is truly cross platform so if you are using a pc, Mac, Linux this will get you up and running. There are a ton of great features that will get you making music and producing right out of the gate.

Cakewalk by Bandlab

My second choice is Cakewalk. Back in the day Cakewalk was one of the first DAWS I worked on and I didn’t really like it. However, times have really changed and this software is fantastic. Like Waveform it’s completely free and fully functional. The only drawback is that it’s only for PC so if you’re a Mac or Linux user

Free software 2 - Plug ins

So now that you have a DAW to start working with you are going to need some plug ins

  1. Komplete Start

The first recommendation I have for plug in Komplete Start by Native Instruments.  It comes with a bunch of effects, loops, and sounds to play with. You can customize procession, synths, acoustic instruments. It will give you a lot to work with and fill in any sound gaps your DAW might be missing.

2. Valhalla Plugins

Valhalla Offers a few awesome plug ins that are a lot of fun. Go check out their Ubermod delay, Freq Echo, SpaceModular and my favourite the Supermassive reverb.
