If you are new to recording or want some incredible plug-ins to play with, check out my Blog and Youtube video about my favourite free vocal plug ins.

Top 5 best free vocal plugins

Last year I went down a rabbit hole checking what free plugins are out there and if there are any that I would actually use in my workflow. I’ve discovered quite a few that I do like to use, specifically for vocals. There are so many plugins on the market for vocals it can get very overwhelming sometimes and to be honest un necessary to own them all. If you are starting out and on a budget then trying to get all these are just not feasible.  Anyways here are 5 plugins I would recommend.

1. Tokyo Dawn EQ’s VOS SlickEQ and Nova

So this is a 2-for-one eq recommendation. If you are looking for a very easy-to-use eq with some great character features the SlickEQ is an amazing download. The 3-band eq setup is really easy to get going and it offers 3 saturation styles you can play around with.

The TDR Nova is another really awesome plug-in. If you are a fan of the fab-filter Pro-Q 3, then you will really like this free option. You can eq and control dynamics which makes this plug-in a very useful plug-in when working with vocals.

2. The DC1A Klanghelm

Another free compressor I have used on many occasions now for vocals. The design is a simple 2-input/output knob, like 1176 with a few compression options to play with.  If compression is still messing with your brain, this will help you level vocals quickly and sounds really really good.

3. Supermassive by Valhalla

This is a great reverb/delay plug-in that you can download right from their sight. It comes with 18 really fun presets that will help create some depth in your mix. I by habit tend to reach for plate reverbs but this reverb has some really fun features that allow me to experiment and come up with some really fun results.

4. And 5. MFreeFXBundle

Ok, so my last recommendation is not just one plugin but an entire bundle. If you go to meldaproduction.com you can download the MFReeFXBundle which comes with 37 effects you can use for free. You can update this which is 71 dollars but the free will get you using these plug-ins with no catch. I discovered this when I was looking for a free pitch correction tool. The M auto-pitch effect is great for tightening up vocals but this bundle has a ton more stuff.
